The Friends of Rancho Bernardo will have its fourth series of six Jazz concerts starting in October of 2016 and ending in May of 2017. The concerts are hosted by Don Bunin as a Friends of the RB Library volunteer. The objective of the concerts is to bring top San Diego area jazz performers to the residents of the Rancho Bernardo-Poway area well as fans from elsewhere and to add as an additional form of musical entertainment to the ten classical concerts performed under the direction of Harvey Levine, Concerts and Finance Committee chairman. All concerts start at 6:15 PM and end at 7:30. Tickets are not required. Children 7 and older may attend with a parent. Jazz Concerts are supported by free-will donations for the musicians.
Note - Because of the Fire Safety Code, seating is
limited. The limit will be enforced so please arrive early to assure
yourself of a seat.
Jazz is an American created musical form that started in New Orleans at the beginning of the last century with early Dixieland and continuously adds many different melodic and rhythmic patterns. This season’s RB Library series of concerts will include music from the big band era of the 20th century to advanced contemporary styles including Latin rhythm based styles that have become a significant part of jazz scene. The performance groups will range in size from trios to a nine piece band.
